Naked Bouncers, Brighton
Today's entry in the apparently endless list of naked British calendars shows bouncers in Brighton, England in 2013. This is the front cover.
That's right, bouncers, the guys who monitor people coming into a club and throw out people who cause trouble, now have their own calendar showing them naked on the streets of Brighton. This was Mr. January.
This was Mr. May. I always thought of bouncers as being big and burly, but I guess I was wrong.
This was the December photo. I think the sparks from the sparklers were added with Photoshop, because otherwise certain tender body parts would have been at risk.
This is the back cover, a rear view of the front cover. Like most of these naked British calendars, this one raised money for charity: prostate and breast cancer.

This is a "behind the scenes" photo of a stranger (on the left) who dropped his pants and wanted to get in on the fun. Their Facebook page said it was just one of the perils of doing the photo shoot in public, and that Dan Whelan, at right, was a good sport about it.

Bravo! Prostate Cancer and Breast Cancer: Two of the best charities to collect for since people need to be aware that men also get breast cancer.

Seeing these nude bouncers reminds me of the video by photographer Melanie Manchot who filmed seven security guards (all from Ibiza, I believe). Each hunky guard stands fully dressed facing the camera. Then off come his clothes, piece by piece, until he stands fully nude facing the camera. Then each guard puts his clothes back on, looks at camera. Done. All seven follow this same process. Photographer wanted to show how these muscular guards, once naked, shed their power with their clothes, becoming vulnerable at they strip, stepping completely out of their comfort zones. I was surprised she could get seven guys to do this. But I'm glad she did. Google "Melanie Manchot" and "security guards" and watch for yourselves.
