Poem of the Day

My Shadow

                I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me

                And what can be the use of him is more than I can see

                ...

                The funniest thing about him is the way he likes to grow

                Not at all like proper children, which is always very slow

Of course, I would never post a suggestive photo of something that, like the poem says, "goes in and out" and "likes to grow."  Would I?

 Arthur Tress

Arthur Tress, born in 1940, is an American photographer known for his use of male nudes in surreal, sometimes disturbing images.  This is a self--portrait when he was young.

HIs photos often use objects as props to remove us from our everyday world.  This is called The Music Lesson.

The Ledger Book, 1980, is one of a series photographed in the same setting.

Did you ever think your jeans could stand up on their own because they hadn't been washed in so long?  Here's Tress' realization of that fantasy, Nude with Jeans, 1980.

I have many more of Tress' surrealistic photos, so we will probably see him again.
