Calendars - Part 49

 Naked Rugby Players 2019

The Naked Rugby Players Calendar was the result of six gay-inclusive British rugby teams coming together.  Since the first year, many more gay-inclusive teams participated in the nude calendar to celebrate positive body image and gay/straight inclusiveness in sports.  Money raised from calendar sales supports Balls to Cancer, a charity that assists men fighting testicular and prostate cancer and their families.

January featured the Liverpool Tritons.  Like most British charity calendars, frontal views are concealed, but some butts are on display.

February featured the Sheffield Vulcans.

In April, it's the Bristol Bisons.

In September, we see the Brighton & Hove Sea Serpents – quite a team name!  Too bad they're concealing their snakes.

The Glasgow Alphas aren't afraid to show their butts.

We end with the Northampton Outlaws.

Boys and Their Balls - Part 16

NZ Nude Blacks vs. Fiji, 2011

Each time New Zealand's international rugby team, the All Blacks, play in the stadium in Dunedin, New Zealand, the local lads hold a naked pre-game game of their own, featuring their team, the Nude Blacks.  One of the All Blacks games in 2011 was against Fiji, so the pre-game pitted the Nude Blacks against a "Fiji invitational" team, clothed in blue sulus, a kilt-like garment.  I suspect the "Fiji invitational" team also consisted of local Dunedin lads.

The games always begin with a haka, above, which is a traditional Maori chant preceding a battle in which the warriors taunt and insult the other side.  Note their tongues sticking out.

Here's a video of the haka.

The haka was led by team captain Devon Jay Latoa IV.

The game featured a blind referee, a local woman who is actually blind.  She had an assistant to guide her around the field and give her hints when to blow the whistle.  Here she is starting the game.

Here's Devon Latoa getting tackled.

And another Nude Blacks player suffering the same fate.

In rugby, if the ball goes "into touch" (out of bounds), both teams line up for a "line out", in which the team that didn't send the ball out of bounds tries to throw it back to their team, and the other team tries to block it.  Both teams are allowed to hoist a "jumper" into the air to try to catch the ball.

Here's a short video of a line out in this game.  Neither team caught the ball, which was then up for grabs.

As has happened at other Nude Blacks games, a clothed "streaker" was caught and removed by a naked "policeman."

At the end, the Nude Blacks won.  Here they're posing with their trophy, which looks suspiciously like a toilet seat.

Not the Same Old Song - Part 9

Baby What a Big Surprise

Baby What a Big Surprise is a 1977 song by Chicago.

I was tempted to illustrate it using images like the one above that I found on the blog Sicko Ricko's Crap (thanks, Rick).

But I think this video of a different kind of surprise works, too.  It was recorded in 2017 at a British Lions vs New Zealand All Blacks rugby game in Auckland, New Zealand.

Boys and Their Balls - Part 11

Rugby Players - "You Sexy Thing"

Here's another example of why rugby players have such a reputation for getting naked.

In this video we see some members of a rugby team in a pub.  Some of the players are singing karaoke to the song "You Sexy Thing."  Meanwhile, two of the players are taking "you sexy thing" literally, dancing with each other while gradually stripping off each other's clothes.  How far do they go with the public striptease?  Watch the video and find out.  It's a bit long (three and a half minutes), but I think you'll find it's worth it.

Calendars - Part 12

Leeds Rhinos 2013

The Leeds Rhinos are a professional rugby team in Leeds, England.  Like so many British organizations, they put out a yearly naked calendar.  The 2013 calendar, which today's photos are from, was a testimonial calendar for player Danny McGuire (second from left).

Here Danny is about to strip ... a piece of wire cable.

Please serve yourself.  I know what I'd pick.

This guy is high-voltage.

Here's something tasty.

Anyone want some nice buns?

When they're not playing rugby, there are always other games.

But it's all good clean fun.

The End(s).

Boys and Their Balls - Part 9

Sandbach Rugby Club

Rugby players have a reputation for getting naked, and not just in the locker room.  After viewing this video, you'll see why.  It's from an episode of a 2007 British TV series called Generation Xcess that showed, among other things, some of the antics of a rugby team in Sandbach, England, off the field. They followed the team through a pub crawl as they got progressively more drunk and more naked.

British TV doesn't censor nudity, even frontal nudity, although they blurred some bits at the end where teammates were giving each other public handjobs.

One amusing aspect of the story is how the guys seem to think think that getting naked will impress the girls, while the girls clearly think it's gross.  Ultimately, the guys are getting naked for each other.

I edited this down to the most revealing parts (in more ways than one) from a much longer program.  It's 5 minutes long, but I think you'll like it.

Calendars - Part 9

Hullensians Rugby Club

The Hullensians Rugby Union Football Club, to use their full name, is a rugby team in Hull, England.  In 2010, like so many British organizations, they produced a naked calendar.

The rugby formation above is known as a line out.  For Americans not familiar with rugby rules (like me), this happens when a ball goes "into touch" (out of bounds).  Both teams line up on a line perpendicular to the side boundary where the ball went out.  A player from the team that didn't send the ball out of bounds tries to throw the ball to a player on his team, over the heads of the other team, who try to block it.  Originally, players jumped to catch or block the ball, but since 1999, each team is allowed to hoist a "jumper" into the air to catch or block the ball, as seen in the photo.

This happens all the time in normal rugby games, but since the players are clothed, the hands-on-ass move is not quite as conspicuous.

A player kicks for a goal.

The players celebrate a win.

Heading back to shower and change.

These two guys seem particularly chummy.

Then it's time for a shower.

Romance in the locker room?  If he was trying to hide his friend's naughty bits for the photo with the rose, he didn't quite succeed.

Finally, a well-earned beer.  Cheers!  Or perhaps "bottoms up!" is more appropriate.

Calendars - Part 7

Warrington Wolves

The Warrington Wolves, an English rugby team, puts out a yearly naked calendar, like many British organizations.  We saw some of their calendar pictures earlier in our post about golf.  Here are pictures from some of their other calendars.

Some of their calendars are "testimonials" for players, although the calendar sales benefit various charities, not the players.  The 2014 calendar was a testimonial for Ben Westwood, who is seen here on the cover.

The 2014 calendar also started a theme of having the photos shot with the players posing naked in the places of business of local companies that sponsored the calendar.  This is Paul Wood.  I presume the business is a building contractor, repairman, or some such.

Ryan Atkins posed at a local car dealer in 2014.  Sold!  Ask for finance.

Stefan Ratchford posed in 2014 in what looks like a bridal shop.

The 2016 calendar had an Alice in Wonderland theme.  Here, Ben Westwood and Matty Russell are painting the roses red.

Ben Harrison enjoys a round of golf with Joe Philbin and Declan Patton in 2017.  Our earlier golf pictures came from their 2011 calendar.

Chris Hill and Ben Currie fit some windows in 2017.  I think we're back to the players publicizing the sponsors.

James Laithwaite & Ben Harrison at a scrapyard in 2017.

And to clean up this series, we have Rhys Evans and Toby King in 2017.

Calendars - Part 5

King's College, London, Rugby

Another naked rugby calendar is put out by the rugby team of King's College, London.

The college is in downtown London.  These guys are in front of the college on the busy London street called the Strand, no doubt attracting attention from passers-by.

Inside the college.  Going up?

In the Maughan Library.  Well, some of us have to study.

Oh, come on.  All work and no play ...

makes Jack a dull boy.

A calendar photo shoot in the courtyard called the Quad.  They're happy about something.

Boys and their Balls - Part 2

NZ Nude Blacks, 2008

There's something about the sport of rugby that seems to make guys get naked.  Not only are some of the best naked calendars from rugby teams, and not only do rugby players like to get naked in pubs (we'll see that in future posts), but the city of Dunedin, New Zealand regularly hosted a bunch of rugby games where the players actually played naked.

New Zealanders love their rugby team, the All Blacks, which competes internationally.  Whenever the All Blacks play in Dunedin, the local lads stage a pre-game game, calling themselves the Nude Blacks and playing naked.

Before 2009, the naked games were played on St. Kilda beach to an admiring crowd of spectators.

In 2008, the All Blacks were playing England in Dunedin, so the pre-game was the Nude Blacks vs. England, with both teams made up of local lads.

The Nude Blacks start each game with a haka, a traditional Maori challenge involving chanting, stamping feet, sticking out tongues, and other gestures.

Then the game began ...

only to be interrupted by a clothed "streaker" running among the naked players.  A naked "cop" captured the clothed streaker ...

and escorted him off the field.

Despite such hijinks, the teams play the rugby game for real.  By the way, Bottom Bus refers to a local bus tour company that sponsored the naked rugby games.

After 2008. the naked games were moved to a grassy playing field in the center of the city, with even more spectators.  We have more pictures and videos of the Nude Blacks, so stay tuned.
