World Naked Bike Ride - Part 30

Here are some more World Naked Bike Ride participants who caught my eye.  Today's photos are from the 2014 WNBR in Brighton, England.  These two guys are as naked as you can get, not even wearing shoes.  They're also identifiable because they each have a peace symbol painted on their chest.

Starting the ride, one guy is walking his bike.  His buddy is almost hidden from view behind him, and the guy at right in the orange cap is the guy who they were posing with in the last photo.

They're both riding barefoot.  This would be painful if the bike pedals have little teeth to grip your shoe, but it's not a problem with flat pedals.  The guy on the right is not wearing sandals.  Those are pedal straps, intended to fasten your foot to the pedal.  The strap has fallen off his left foot. But maybe you weren't looking at the pedal straps.

Here he is again wearing the pedal straps.  Pedal straps are used for high-performance racing, because they let you exert force pulling up on the pedal as well as pushing down, but they are not needed for slow riding like the WNBR.

And here's his buddy.  The symbol on his chest originated in 1958 as a symbol for nuclear disarmament by British anti-nuclear activists, but in the 1960s, Americans opposing the Vietnam war adopted it as a peace symbol, which is what it generally stands for today.
