Fall Equinox 2022

 Fall Equinox

Today is the Fall Equinox in the U.S.  In England, it's called the Autumn Equinox and it occurs in the early hours of Sept. 23.  The equinox will be celebrated there by holding the annual North East Skinny Dip on Sunday, Sept. 25 at Druridge Bay in Northumberland, England.  This short video clip shows part of the event in 2018.  The crowd gathers on the beach before sunrise.  Then, when it gets light, everyone runs naked into the North Sea.

The photo above is from the 2018 run into the chilly North Sea, where the water temperature in September averages 59 degrees Fahrenheit.

This was the view in 2017.  Nice dawn colors that year at the east-facing beach.

This rather romantic picture shows two naked guys at dawn on the beach.

After a short dip in the chilly sea, it's time to head back to shore, like this guy with his horsie – oh, pardon me, his unicorn.

The event raises money for MIND, a mental health charity.  Since 2012 they have raised over £80,000 ($94,000).
