Bill Grant
Bill Grant, above, was born in 1946 in New Jersey. (Note: there is also a white model named Bill Grant who posed for nude physique photos. This post is about the black bodybuilder.)
As a boy, Grant was picked on and beaten up. At age 12, a friend showed him how to lift weights and build muscle, and he became a bodybuilder. In 1968 he won the Mr. New Jersey contest. In 1974 he won the Mr. World contest. Several sites say that he also won Mr. America, but that's not true. In 1972 he won a lesser-known contest called Pro Mr. America run by a different organization, but it's not the same as Mr. America.

In the 1960s he began posing nude for physique photographers such as Bob Mizer. Above, Bill Grant in the AMG shower with Jim Horn.

Bill Grant and Jim Horn co-starred in the 1967 AMG movie White Captive. The plot is racist and hokey by today's standards. Horn is a white captive who is brought before Grant, who is an African king (above). Of course, for some unexplained reason, they get naked.

Then the king befriends his captive and all ends well. The real distinction of the movie is that it was AMG's first film showing full-frontal nudity, following a court ruling allowing it. The era of the posing strap was over.

In the 1970s, Grant's hair grew a bit longer into an Afro. This photo is by Roy Dean.

In 1971 Grant starred in a kinky AMG movie called Hands. There's no plot, just two guys running their hands all over Grant's naked body, and I mean all over. See the excerpt above.

Bill Grant is now 78 years old and still fit. We close with a video of him doing the "wall climber" at an expo in Helsinki, Finland in 2018 at age 72.
