Allan Teger, born in 1942, was a psychology professor, teaching the psychology of consciousness.  In 1976, looking for a way to show the idea that you can see something more than one way and that both can be right, he came up with the idea for "Bodyscapes" – photographs of little figures on the human body where you can see the body as a landscape, or as a body.

Most of his bodyscapes photos use a female body as the background.  But he said, "I felt that it just wasn't appropriate to show only female bodies.  It's very difficult to use a male body because there's hair on the body which gives away the fact that it's a body."

Teger found a smooth (or shaved) male chest to use for Climbers ...

and a weightlifter's biceps for Climbing.

He made Crane as a kind of joke.  Is it a metaphor?  Or does the guy need help getting it up?

Golf Cart.

Motorcycle.

Ski Bumm.

Turtles.

We end with Big Turtle.  And you know what?  It works.  You can see it as a penis, and you can see it as a turtle.
