Photographers - Part 44

 Harald Seiwert

Harald Seiwert, born in 1957, is a gay German photographer and artist married to a Dutch man and now living in Amsterdam.  Above is a self-portrait.

His work mixes photography, photo alterations, and painted backgrounds. In Adam and Yves, above, the models are photographs and at least part of the tree and background is painted.

Not all his work is mixed-media.  Some of his photos simply use a clever concept, like Love for Sale, above ...

or Attractive.

In Smokesigns, above, it's possible that the smoke ring was that perfect, but I suspect the photo has been altered.

In Gameboy the alteration is obvious, but it's also a clever comment on the game player's tool, which is called a joystick.

Made in Holland has merged two photos at different scales, the windmill scene and the model Terrence.

In Undress, the result of the photo alteration is surrealistic and a bit disturbing.

Seiwert has also created a series of take-offs on famous paintings, called Inspired By, substituting nude male models.  For example, above is Raphael's painting The Three Graces.

And here's Seiwert's photo/painting Inspired by Raphael Three Graces.

We end with a Seiwert photo that's just a photo, not cleverly altered or repainted.  It's appropriately called Done, and we are done for today.

That bottom photo is so eye catching. We can see that not ALL of his semen is in that condom. It looks like things need to be licked clean! I can't help but having this thought!!

According to the watermark on some of the photos, his name is spelled “Seiwert” rather than “Siewert.”
