 2023 Tambaba Nude Surfing Contest, Brazil

Praia Tambaba, or Tambaba Beach, is a beautiful beach in the northeastern Brazilian state of Paraiba.  There is a clothed beach and a nude beach, but unlike American and European nude beaches, which are clothing optional, clothing is forbidden on this nude beach.  You have to be naked.

This beach is the site of the Tambaba Open, one of the world's biggest nude surfing competitions, sponsored by SONATA, the Sociedade Naturista de Tambaba (Tambaba Naturist Society) and the Brazilian Federation of Naturism.  2023 was the 14th nude surfing competition here, held in September, and it was also the 27th anniversary of SONATA, being celebrated by SONATA officials above.  After the congratulations, the cake was cut and distributed to the naked athletes and visitors.

They are so strict about requiring nudity on this beach that even the photographers of the surfing contest have to be naked (above, photographers at the 2022 contest).

Before the main event, surfing contestants are allowed to do some practice surfing to get a feel for the site, which they do totally naked.

Then, for the actual competition, contestants have to put on colored T-shirts, which would normally be forbidden on the nude beach.  This open space next to the officials' tent is the "locker room" for changing T-shirts.

The colored T-shirts help the judges distinguish the contestants at a distance.

However, the contestants change to different colored T-shirts between heats of the competition.  This is the same guy as the previous photo.

Here are the winners of the 2023 Tambaba Open Naturist Surfing contest:

1st place: Ulisses Meira

2nd place: Reginaldo Filho

3rd place: Willian Meira (brother of Ulisses)

4th place: Jota Filho (I don't know if he's related to Reginaldo)

Jota Filho is the surfer with the beard in the first three photos of colored T-shirts above.

While they were giving out awards, they also honored the technical team for the event (above), who apparently each got a little bag of goodies.
