Gods, Myths and Heroes - Part 18

 Haesindang Penis Park

In the small town of Sinnam, South Korea, lies Haesindang Penis Park, a favorite place to visit for both Koreans and Western visitors, with a curious legend of its origin.

This is the town harbor (note the penis-shaped lighthouse).  The legend is that a local fisherman dropped off his fiancée Haesindang on a rock while he went out to sea.  Then a strong wind blew her off the rock into the sea, and she drowned.  After that, the village fishermen weren't able to catch any fish.  They thought it was due to the angry dead virgin.

One day, a fisherman dropped his pants and masturbated into the sea.  Immediately, the sea became filled with fish and the fishermen made record catches.  The villagers concluded that showing a penis to the dead virgin had pleased her.

These statues in the park, above, show fishermen pleasing the dead girl.  A bowdlerized version of the legend says that they were pissing into the sea, not masturbating, but it's pretty clear from these statues that they're not just pissing.

To ensure Haesindang's continued pleasure, the villagers built large phallic statues within view of the sea, and they held religious ceremonies dedicated to Haesindang that continue to this day.

More and more penis statues were added, becoming the penis park.

Here are two visitors sitting on a park bench that has built-in features to sit on (or behind).

If those aren't big enough, here's another bench.

And if those aren't thick enough, try this bench.

OK, maybe that one is a little too big to sit on.

Or you can enjoy the penis see-saw.

There's a small indoor penis museum that has some even more explicit exhibits.  This one, labeled "Sexual intercourse of Avri," shows a bearded man with an enormous penis atop a small man who also has an enormous penis.  Unfortunately, I don't know the story behind it.

But most of the park's penises are outdoors.  This guy appears to be posing to say "look how big mine is."

And it's a great place if you like to ride cock (even if you don't take advantage of those park benches).  And to think we owe it all to a fisherman jerking off!

Now wondering why the guy with the Batman shirt is sitting astride a penis with no frenulum.

Insert joke about Batman being canonically circumcised. And we hate DC for showing us that. I miss Vertigo.

South Koreans routinely circumcise males at birth while North Koreans do not. The reason the penis in question has no frenulum is because the South Koreans aren't accustomed to seeing any men with one. South Korea's circumcision rate approaches Israel's level of complete adherence to the procedure. I find it baffling for a nation to be so brainwashed into total acceptance of circumcision without questioning why it continues unabated and unchecked into the 21st century. But, West Virginia has the highest rate of neonatal circumcision in the United States so logic cannot justify the practice.

In your 3rd photo, the 2 statues closest, while in slightly different colors, seem to be from the same mold, instead of being individually sculpted. I wonder if more copies are commercially available.
