Green Gathering
The Green Gathering, formerly called the Big Green Gathering, is a festival with a focus on environmental and social issues, held in Somerset, England. It attracts alternative types, as evidenced by this collage of signs from the 2007 gathering, ranging from "Welcome to Earth Energies & Divinatory Arts" to "Come Sit With the Goddess" to "Save the Pixies."
It also attracts its share of naked participants.
Here's a guy who just felt like dancing naked.
As at many festivals, some people like to get muddy.
These are the same two guys as above. After getting muddy, they didn't wash it off. They just wandered around naked and mud-covered.
This guy is optimistic about a "Fun Future" that apparently involves bikes and being naked.
This guy is imaginatively clothed in a hat and a flower pot. Well, the English are known for being great gardeners.
In 1996, the local police were conducting random strip searches of people arriving at the Big Green Gathering. After finding out what was going on, some festival organizers and participants protested. How to protest against people being strip searched? By holding a naked protest, of course (above).
