From Time to Time
by Matsuo Bashō
Matsuo Bashō (1644-1694) was the most famous Japanese poet of the Edo period. He is considered the greatest master of the haiku poem. Here is one of his poems:
雲をりをり人をやすめる月見かな
This has been translated as follows, accompanied by images that are probably not what the poet had in mind:
From time to time
The clouds give rest
To the moon-beholders.
