Vintage Military - Part 104

 British Radioactive Decontamination, 1958

This video was brought to my attention by my follower Bob.  Thanks, Bob!  It shows British soldiers who were involved in the testing of atomic weapons in 1958 being tested for radioactivity.  At this time, after World War II, the U.S. and its allies Britain and France as well as the Soviet Union were all developing and testing atomic bombs.

Yep. Not a joke at all. My first wife worked for a company that monitored workers from the NV Test Site.

This instructional film left absolutely nothing to the imagination. I presume it was meant for "in house" viewing only.

Always something to learn.

Just wash the radiation off !
Sure Jan !
During all these nuclear tests, did they ever release information as to whether any of the affected military personnel contracted cancer ?

I agree with you. What we know now in 2026 and what we knew them (75 years ago) are two different things. Remember those 1950 films instructing school children to duck under their desks in case of a nuclear attack? Rather simplistic. Just like washing off the radiation. Good luck with that.
