Not the Same Old Song - Part 38

 All the Pretty Little Horses

All the Pretty Little Horses is a traditional American lullaby, probably composed by an African-American slave.  The version above was sung by folk singers Peter, Paul and Mary in 1963.  I have coupled it with clips from the opening scene of Hammers Over the Anvil, an early Russell Crowe movie, made while he was still in Australia.  That's Russell Crowe with the horses, and the horses are not the only things here that are pretty.

Peter, Paul, and Mary were one of my favorite singing trios. A very interesting video.

This movie was available on vhs once upon a time and I rented it for the sole purpose of watching that scene...I don't remember a whole lot about the rest of it; it's set in the late 19th/early 20th century, and he has an affair with his employer's wife and it's a big scandal or something. But what I DO remember about this scene is that a teenage boy is spying on Russell Crowe as he splashes around buck nekkid, and the boy is really enjoying it, lol.
