Artists - Part 47a

Fabien Lutz-Barabé

Yesterday we saw some photos of Canadian artist and naturist advocate Fabien Lutz-Barabé at the Crystal Crescent nude beach, sent to me by Fabien himself with permission to use them in my blog.  He also has a website with many more photos of himself and his art, which he graciously permitted me to use as well.  Above, Fabien painting.

Another photo of Fabien painting in his home studio near Halifax, Nova Scotia.  Fabien's husband, John, is not a naturist, but he supports Fabien's naturism.

Many of Fabien's works are landscapes.  This one is Susie's Lake, a favorite local spot to hang out naked and go skinny dipping.

In 2016, Fabien was diagnosed with cancer of the tongue (squamous cell carcinoma).  He underwent a 12-hour surgery to remove the cancer and reconstruct the tongue, followed by months of radiation therapy.   At the end of it, he had lost 50 pounds (above, before and after photos).  But he beat the cancer, and he has been cancer-free ever since, an inspiring success story.

Fabien says, "Art has been the lifeline to my recovery."  In addition to producing art, he has posed as a nude model for other artists.  Above, modeling for the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in Halifax.  Part of his naturist philosophy is the strong conviction that we should not be ashamed of our bodies.  Yes, his body is the worse for wear after his cancer treatment, but it is what it is.  That's not a reason to be ashamed of it.

He even started an art group called Men's Naked Drawing Group, Halifax.  Each of the men in the group takes turns modeling in the nude for the others to draw.  Part of the purpose of the group is to convince the participants not to be ashamed of their bodies.

Fabien's naturist philosophy includes being naked as much as possible in daily life, whether it be chopping vegetables in the kitchen ...

or working naked in the garden ...

or enjoying a glass of wine in the yard ...

or even shoveling snow.  As the words say, he embraces the naturist way.

He also enjoys going for naked outings, where possible.  This was a hike through the woods to a local stream.

Here he is under runoff from a heavy rain causing a temporary waterfall along the coast of the Bay of Fundy, famous for its high tides.  Fabien's comment on the experience: "Bliss."

Fabien's blog containing these photos and much more is https://sparxx2u.wordpress.com.

Fabien Lutz-Barabé is not only a painter but an accomplished cartoonist.  We'll see that aspect of his work tomorrow.
