Festivals - Part 33

 Melt! Festival

Last time, we saw the Naked Heart project at the Frequency Festival.  Naked Heart is the brainchild of German photographer Gerrit Starczewski.  After seeing a streaker at a festival in 2010, which delighted the crowd, he decided to bring a group of naked people to various festivals to amuse and please the viewers.

Later that year, Naked Heart appeared at Melt!, an electronic music festival that is held at the Ferropolis open-air museum (an abandoned coal factory) near Gräfenhainichen, Germany.

Above, the participants gathered in the bleachers at Melt! 2010 and got naked, and then Starczewski photographed them.

Starczewski got naked, too, perhaps to make them feel more at ease.

Then an assistant directed the Naked Heart participants info a formation.

And the result was a giant heart.

Here's Starczewski getting some closeup shots of the heart – or maybe closeups of certain body parts of certain people making up the heart.

After that, participants were free to wander around the festival naked.

Naked Heart was also at the 2014 Melt! festival, where they ran across the plaza carrying big hearts.

And they were at the 2015 festival (above).

We end with a short video clip of participants enjoying a naked rave at the 2014 festival.
