Not the Same Old Song - Part 17

What's Love Got to Do With It

Tina Turner's 1984 hit What's Love Got to Do With It has been called an anti-love song.  It's all about sex, right?  She sings that love is "a secondhand emotion" and "a sweet old-fashioned notion."  But she also sings "it scares me to feel this way" and "who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?"  That sounds like someone who's falling in love but is coming up with excuses, because her heart has been broken before.  Maybe the song is about love, after all.

My version of this song uses excerpts from a safe sex video created by Stop SIDA, an anti-AIDS organization headquartered in Barcelona, Spain.  The video features Spanish gay porn star Tony Duque demonstrating how to properly use a condom, and it pulls no punches – he's not demonstrating on a banana.  This sexy guy was a great choice to grab the attention of the gay audience.

If you're interested, you can see the original longer safe sex video (in Spanish, without the music) here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-ArK_PFB2s. Even if you don't know Spanish, it's pretty clear what he's talking about. Some parts of the video that I excluded show useful things like how NOT to use a condom. For example, he applies an oil-based lube that makes the condom dissolve right on his penis.
