Ads - Part 24

 Vintage "Gay" Ads

Folks love gay boys, according to this vintage ad.

(I got this from Franco's blog Vellohomo.  Thanks, Franco.)

Are you a gay bottom looking for a gay top?  Look no further, and make your home gaytop gay!

All those gay bottoms and tops will be producing gay liquid.  Ask today for liquid gay!

(I also got this from Vellohomo.  Thanks, Franco.)

What's the secret?  Drink Ovaltine to wake up gay in the morning.

And to make sure you're gay at bedtime, have Jello, the gay dessert.

Of course, man does not live by Ovaltine and Jello alone.  So have some Gay Johnny vegetables ...

And some homo biscuits to go with them.

Note: These appear to be the precursor to Wheat Thins.  This ad dates from 1916, and the Wheat Thins brand didn't come out until 1947, but National Biscuit Company became Nabisco, the maker of Wheat Thins, and they're both made from whole wheat, so ... I knew there was a reason why Wheat Thins are my favorite cracker.

Good grooming is important in the business world.  These gay gifts from Mennen will help.

But to really get ahead in business, send for this booklet on how to use oral penetration to get more pay.  Well, sucking up to the boss is a time-honored technique.

And if that works, celebrate with champagne.  Let us be gay!

My, my, how times have changed...
And language changes, too. Thanks for a great chuckle, Larry.

What's funny is, even tops and bottoms date to the 70s.

You didn't notice "popsicle queen"?

Linkara did a bit in Wally West's origin about the use of "queer duck".

I love old ads, and these have a special meaning.

The Flintstones had a Gay Old Time in Bedrock. Was that mentioned in any ads for the cartoon?

A thoroughly delightful series!

I'm trying to find some ads by the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad that suggested something like "Be Gay, Take the Train to Cape Cod".

I love these old ads and it is always good to see them again. My mother gave me Ovaltine as a boy, and it clearly worked!
