Edward Dutkiewicz
Edward Dutkiewicz (1961-2007) was a British artist who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at age 21. After the diagnosis, he bought a bottle of whisky, drank it, and played Russian roulette, loading one bullet into his father's Army revolver and firing it. He survived and decided to live, which he did without complaint for the next 25 years, eventually painting from his wheelchair.
His art was characterized by bold color and expressionist, semi-abstract forms reminiscent of Matisse. Above is his version of the legend of Icarus.
He was also quite unafraid to portray nudity, though in his characteristic style. This piece, called Abstract, shows a man whose little head is as prominent as his big head. Well, for most guys, it's just as important. I'm reminded of Woody Allen's line in the move Sleeper when they're going to reprogram his brain: "My brain? That's my second favorite organ!"
In 1992 Dutkiewicz did a series of paintings of his versions of flowers, like Flower Painting 5.
Flower Painting 6 is even more suggestive.
And Flower Painting 16 is downright menacing.
In 1993, he did a series of even more explicit paintings. This is called Joy Fuck. Dutkiewicz was clearly heterosexual, but I think he may have had some psychological issues with women, judging from the following paintings.
This is Night Fuck.
This is Nightmare Fuck.
We end with Bite Fuck, which looks to me a human version of praying mantis sex.
