Ads - Part 13

Venfield 8

Venfield 8 is the pseudonym of a photographer who delights in creating outrageous fakes.

As a brief introduction to his work, here are a couple of fake magazine covers.  This National Geographic cover looks real, but although National Geographic published photos of bare-breasted native women, they never published frontal male nudity.

Here's his version of "ESPN the body issue".  I only wish.

But we're here to see his fake ads.  It could be jewelry, like this ad for Harry Winston ...

Or fragrance, like this ad for Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino ...

Or Chanel No. 5.  Venfield 8 called this ad "piss Chanel" ...

Or Venfield 8's own imaginary fragrance products, "L'Essence de l'Homme ...

Or "L'Essence Masculine Noir" ...

Or a "scratch and sniff" ad for Venfield 8 fragrance.

He also produced fake ads for fashion designers, like Dior ...

And Givenchy ...

And Louis Vuitton ...

And Saint Laurent (note that where a real ad would say "Paris" under the name, this one says "Penis."

Although Venfield 8 remains anonymous, he gave an interview (in a bathtub) with Mike Enders (on the right).  In this short clip, Venfield 8 (on the left) says that in real life he's a fashion photographer (so he really does know the world of fashion).  The interview was much longer, but Venfield 8's name was never revealed.  I end the clip with their observation that "With fashion, it's who you know ... and who you blow."

In the bulk of the creative industries it has always been who you know and who you blow. Sad, but true....

I used to wait to see the occasional dick pic in National Geographic back in the 60s. This mock cover fulfills all those fantasies. Great post!!
