Kehena Beach, Hawaii
Another secluded Hawaiian beach is Kehena Beach on the south shore of the Big Island of Hawaii where I live. Although nude beaches are illegal in Hawaii, this is one of the secluded beaches where nudity was unofficially tolerated.
Unfortunately, police have recently been visiting this beach because many beachgoers have been ignoring state COVID-19 safety measures about wearing face masks and social distancing. The result is that police have been ticketing the COVID-19 scofflaws, but while they're there, they have been enforcing other state laws, including the ban on nudity. How long will this continue? Who knows?
These photos (none of them are mine) are all from past years.
A somewhat steep and rocky trail (above) leads down to the beach.
Once you get there, the beach is small but beautiful, because it's black sand.
It's an amazing sight. I'm talking about the white surf on the black sand. Unfortunately, Kehena is not a good beach for swimming, because the waves can be rough and there can be treacherous rip currents and undertow.
It was always clothing optional; some people were nude and some weren't. It was also a haven for the free spirits of the world like the hippies who gravitated to this part of Hawaii, which is known as the Puna district. This guy is just hanging out (literally) and playing his flute.
Here's Kirill from Active Naturists enjoying the beach. If the sun is out, you definitely need to lie on a beach blanket or towel, because black sand gets burning hot in the sun – hot enough that if you're barefoot, you'll be hopping from one foot to the other (as I know from experience). Luckily, the beach also has trees at the back with ample shade. Altogether, a hidden gem. Hopefully, after the pandemic it will become a haven again for free spirits who like to be free of clothes.

According to the Active Naturists blog, Kirill Tokarev died in 2018, struck by a car while riding his bike in Miami. Very sad.
Such beauty! The landscape, seascape, and the people.
I think most places will turn a blind eye to nudity if people are behaving themselves. Though, we'd all be much better off if folks would get it through their heads that Nudity automatically does not equal sex.
