Olympic Photos by Paul Richer, Part 8
We continue our series of nude photographs by Paul Richer of athletes in the 1900 Paris Olympics. Richer was on an official Olympic commission to study the athletes. Richer was responsible for taking nude anthropomorphic photos of the athletes, and since it was an official commission, almost all the athletes who were asked to participate did so.
We start with French cyclist Jean-Baptiste Louvet, above.

This man, a French rower, was only identified as Mathieu. He rowed in the Coxed Pair race with Pierre Ferlin. With no other information about him, I was unable to find any non-nude photos of him. Paul Richer only had two photos of him, a front view ...

August Nilsson is the second from the left in the back row of this photo of Swedish athletes in the 1900 Olympics. Nilsson competed in the pole vault and shotput, and his team won gold in the tug of war.

Interesting that the athletes were not offered modesty pouches. Obviously they were instructed to strip full nude. And the photos were taken outdoors. Good chance they were observed by multiple persons.
The beefy Mr. Louvet is one of my personal favorites.

The photos were taken outdoors due to the lack of electricity at the time, but you can see that the area was surrounded by tarps, with no outside view for the athletes. And at that time, there were only male athletes, so I imagine it was like a normal locker room.

Wish someone would "study" modern male Olympians, with full-nude photos.
