World Naked Bike Ride - Part 68

 London 2021 - Unicycle

This guy stood out in the 2021 World Naked Bike Ride in London because he rode a unicycle.

He has an armband that says "marshal."  WNBR marshals cycle with the ride to help participants if necessary.  If riders become separated from the group, the marshal can guide them, or if riders have breakdowns the marshal can call for assistance.

Riders gather for the London WNBR in several different places.  Our unicyclist is in Hyde Park, the most popular gathering spot and the spot that gets the most publicity.  Here he poses for a picture.

Then the ride begins.  Here they are leaving Hyde Park near Marble Arch.  Our guy is the third from the left.

Then they followed Park Lane around the side of Hyde Park.  In the background you can see the statue of a giant horse head called Still Water.

They rode down Piccadilly Street through Piccadilly Circus, turning onto Haymarket Street where we see them apparently stopped.  Our guy is holding onto a pole for balance.

Then the route took them across Trafalgar Square, above.

Cycling down Whitehall, a street known for its government buildings.

Then they crossed the Thames on the Westminster Bridge.  You can see part of the Palace of Westminster in the background.

Back across the river on the Waterloo Bridge.

Here's a closeup of our guy on the Waterloo Bridge.  If he appears drenched in sweat, it's because the wheel of his unicycle was smaller than bicycle wheels, so he had to pedal faster to keep up.

And the route led them back to Hyde Park, where the ride ended.  The whole route was about 7½ miles.  On a unicycle, that's quite a workout!
