Beach Bums - Part 51

Lady Bay Beach, Sydney

Lady Bay Beach, also known as Lady Jane Beach, is in Sydney, Australia.  It was officially designated as clothing-optional in 1976.  Backed by cliffs, in those days the only way to get to the beach was by boat or by climbing down ladders, shown in the mid-1980s photo above.

Then in the 1990s a staircase was built for beach access.  Note that at high tide the beach almost disappears.

There is a public trail on the cliffs above the beach, with nice views of Sydney across the bay, and also views of the nude beach (above).  So, don't go to this beach if you're very shy.

There are also views of Sydney from the beach.

These days, the beach is mostly, but not entirely, used by gay men.

It's a place where you can enjoy the water ...

or the sun ...

or the view of Sydney ...

or the view of fellow beach-goers ...

some of whom may be exhibiting themselves for you to view ...

or you can seek out a more private spot for other activities.

We end with this photo of a sightseeing boat that was watching the Sydney to Hobart yacht race on Dec. 26, 2015 when the boat started taking on water and sinking.  The boat headed for Lady Bay Beach and yelled for help.  The passengers were rescued by men from the beach, including several naked men.  So they got to see some sights after all, just sights of a different kind. 😋
