Summer of Love Parade
San Francisco, 2016
On August 7, 2016, there was a "Summer of Love" parade in San Francisco, organized by nudity activist Gypsy Taub, to protest the San Francisco laws banning public nudity.
The "Freedom of Choice" sign does not refer to a woman's right to choose to have an abortion; it refers to the choice to be naked.
At one time, San Francisco was one of the few places in the country where non-sexual public nudity was perfectly legal. Then in 2012, a politician named Scott Wiener persuaded the city council to ban public nudity. Now, nudity is only allowed in events that have a proper permit. This parade had a permit, so their nudity was legal.
Another protester displays his opinion of Trump by putting his name on his butt. At the time, Trump was a candidate but had not yet been elected President.
This guy was asked what the significance of his hat was. He replied, "The significance is that it's totally awesome."
This guy carried a flag showing planet Earth, perhaps to remind us that we're all in this together.
A photo op along the way, with the planet Earth guy doing a handstand.
This is part of a much longer video that recorded the Summer of Love Parade. The woman chanting into the loudspeaker is organizer Gypsy Taub.
We end with some words of wisdom from an interview with one of the protesters.

The wearer of the totally awesome hat is pretty nice himself.
in conversations with friends of mine who live in SF - and have always enjoyed nudity at events and other appropriate places in SF - they strongly feel that many of these same guys were responsible for this law being enacted. they abused the liberal policy by using their nudity to to shock and offend. nudity in public in SF was always somewhat self regulated at appropriate events and venues through out the city. some of these guys pushed the limits needlessly seeking to shock and offend, for example standing up against restaurant windows while people were trying to enjoy their meals, their posture - sitting on a bus with legs very wide spread apart etc, this silly shit finally annoyed enough people that this law was floated. when you look at this law its very liberal, it still allows it at permitted events and according to my friend the occassional nude person is still just asked to dress and move on.
The young man with the fancy hat is one of Gypsy Taub's sons. She also has a younger son who was in the parades.
The thought behind the hats on nudists in San Francisco is that the wearing of a hat tells people you are naked on purpose and not a homeless person. I don't see the connection but I'm not in California and their logic process will always escape me.
#6 love this guy
