The Everglades
The Everglades, Including Everglades National Park and surrounding areas, is a huge natural area at the southern end of Florida. It was famously called a "river of grass" by Marjory Stoneman Douglas, because although much of it looks like a prairie, it is actually covered by a thin sheet of water slowly flowing across it, forming a "river" 40 miles wide and 100 miles long.
This is possible because south Florida is extremely flat and low-lying. This road across the Everglades reaches a maximum elevation of 3 feet.
Within the river of grass are islands of slightly higher land called hammocks where trees grow.
The Everglades is famous for its wildlife. The photo above was taken in 2006 in Everglades National Park by a wildlife camera trap, automatically triggered by motion. This is the elusive Florida panther.
Here's another photo taken by the same camera trap (yes, really), capturing the elusive Florida naked hiker.
The late Kirill Tokarev, one of my favorite unashamed males, posted pictures on the Active Naturist site of a canoe trip that he and a friend took in the Everglades.
Here's Kirill's friend paddling the canoe. In addition to the river of grass and the forest hammocks, the Everglades contains pine woods, cypress swamps, and open water, like here, best explored by canoe.
Since there's no dry place to camp, the national park provides these structures called chickees for campers.
You can put up your tent on the platform.
In the morning, after a little stretching, it's time to pack up and head onward.
Kirill also documented another hike in Big Cypress National Preserve, adjacent to Everglades National Park and part of the Everglades ecosystem (the water from Big Cypress runs into the Everglades). Here he is looking at a rather sickly palm tree trying to grow among the pines.
This picture of Kirill tells you why the area used to be called the Big Cypress Swamp.
The Everglades has been the site of two episodes of Naked and Afraid. I don't think much of the TV series, because the title is a come-on to see naked people, but then they blur all nudity, front and rear. Even so, contestant Jake Nodar is not bad to look at. I think the snake is fake.
We end with a clip from a gay porn video called Gator Boys that claims to have been shot in Big Cypress, which does have pine woods like this. Another Florida wildlife (or wild life) sighting!

If you're an unashamed male and you have photos of yourself or your male buddies hiking naked that you would allow me to use in my blog, please email them to unashamedmale@gmail.com. I'll keep you anonymous if you want. Don't send photos that you found on the Internet. It's you I'm interested in! Thanks. -Larry
