The Naked Farmer Part 6

The Naked Farmer - Northern Territory

We continue our series of photos posted by the Naked Farmer, Ben Brooksby, a young Australian farmer who takes and posts photos of naked Australian farmers on social media sites.  The naked photos are to get people's attention, and his message is to encourage people with mental health issues like suicidal thoughts to talk about it with someone and not to hide it away.  Ben himself had suffered from panic attacks in school.

Farmers send naked photos to Ben from all over Australia.  Above, welcome to the Northern Territory, abbreviated as NT.  Unlike the other parts of Australia, it's a territory, not a state, probably because it has a tiny population of only 250,000 in an area twice the size of Texas, making it by far the most sparsely populated part of Australia.

The Northern Territory stretches from the middle of the northern shore of Australia to the center of the continent, where the famous giant rock outcropping Uluru, formerly known as Ayers Rock, is found.

This shot was also taken at Uluru.  Looking away from the rock, the land is flat and featureless in all directions, which makes the presence of the huge rock all the more unusual.

This is a road in Alice Springs, known as the gateway to the red desert of central Australia.

A bit farther north, these guys are working in a ditch in Barkly Tableland, a dry grassland area.

This guy, Kobi, is a helicopter pilot in the Katherine Gorge area, where some rivers have cut scenic gorges.

The farther north you go, the more water there is.  This is Edith Falls.

And on the northern shore is Darwin, the only real city in the Northern Territory.  Darwin has a tropical climate with a wet and dry season.  This guy is taking a shower in a suburb of Darwin called Knuckey Lagoon.

This photo was labeled "Two mates in Darwin."

While we're in the Northern Territory, I couldn't resist adding two more photos of Uluru (Ayers Rock) that I had, even though they're not from the Naked Farmer.  The first one gives us a full-frontal view, which the Naked Farmer can't do because he posts his photos on Facebook.

The second one shows a guy doing a handstand in front of the rock.  Because Australia is "down under" on the other side of the world, is he upside down or right side up?

Many more Naked Farmer photos to come.
