 Naked Weddings

Naked weddings have been going on for a long time among naturists (nudists).  Above, a nudist wedding in Chicago in 1934.

There are lots of pictures of naked weddings, and lots of pictures of gay weddings, but unfortunately, no naked gay weddings that I could find, so all of these are straight couples.

This nude wedding in Houston, Texas was performed by a Universal Life Church minister in 1973.

In the 2006 British comedy film Confetti, a bridal magazine sponsors a competition for the most original wedding, and the film follows three couples who are chosen to compete.  One of the couples decides to have a nude wedding.  Above, Robert Webb and Olivia Colman in the nude wedding ceremony.

Robert Webb in another of the many nude scenes in Confetti.  He and Olivia Colman were told that their private parts would be pixelated in the nude scenes, but when the movie was released, they were stunned to see that there was no pixelation.  They considered suing the studio, but decided to just let it go and pretend it never happened.  By the way, the movie was a flop, only worth watching if you want to see Webb naked.

I don't know if that movie was the inspiration, but afterwards, naked wedding contests started to happen all over.  In 2007, Kelly Raymond and Grant Bulpett in Sydney, Australia won the "wedding of their dreams" in a contest sponsored by radio station 2Day FM by agreeing to marry naked except for strategically placed pieces of lace.

In 2009 in Brisbane, Australia, radio station B105 held a naked wedding competition won by Ellie Barton and Phil Hendicott, who won a free wedding provided they wore nothing at all.  The bride's thong and pasties are actually just painted on, and the groom wore nothing but a hat that unfortunately blocks our view of him (above).

In March 2011, radio station BRMB in Birmingham, England held a competition for an all-expenses-paid naked wedding.  The bride, Kelly Clinton, was topless but wore a thong.  The groom, Lee Wiggins, wore nothing but a top hat that he also used to shield his nether regions.

The following month, in Feldkirchen, Austria, Melanie and Rene Schachner decided to get married naked, not because of a contest, but because, as husband Rene said, "It will certainly be a wedding our guests will never forget."

We end with the 2011 wedding of San Francisco nudity activist Gypsy Taub.  Gypsy had been very active in protests when San Francisco passed laws banning public nudity.  Her naked wedding to Jaymz Smith was held on the steps of City Hall for maximum publicity.

The bride and groom arrived in a wedding dress and tuxedo, which they proceeded to strip off, and they were then married by naked minister George Davis of the Universal Life Church, another nudity activist.

After the wedding on the City Hall steps, which are under the jurisdiction of the County Sheriff, the couple then moved to the sidewalk, which is the jurisdiction of the San Francisco police, who were less tolerant of public nudity.  The couple danced naked to the music of a mariachi band.  You can see the whole thing above.

After they danced for a while longer, the cops moved in and cited the bride and groom.  The cops threatened to take them to the station, but released them provided they put their clothes back on, which they did.  A wedding to remember!
