San Francisco 2012
Here are a few of the guys who caught my eye from the 2012 WNBR in San Francisco. This guy, in the lawn area where participants gather before the ride, is starting to paint himself.
And here he is continuing to paint, but wait! Which of these two photos was taken first? In the first photo, he hadn't painted his chest yet (so it must be first), but in this photo, he hadn't painted his leg yet (so it must be first). Are we in a time warp?
This photo reveals the answer: in photo 1, he turned his leg so he painted the side of it, not visible in photo 2 but slightly visible here.
And he rides away. There are many wild and wonderful things in San Francisco, but I'm afraid a time warp isn't one of them.
This guy also caught my eye with his red cap. 2012 was well before the Trump era, so the cap is not political. Besides, something tells me he's not very conservative.
Of course, he has eye-catching attributes other than his cap.
Which someone else noticed and zoomed in for a closeup of them.
The third guy who caught my eye is standing with arms crossed, which is supposed to be a defensive posture, indicating a lack of confidence.
But then we see him with arms akimbo, which is supposed to show confidence or arrogance. So which is it?
Maybe he just didn't know what to do with his hands while he was waiting for the ride to start.
The last guy who caught my eye is this rider with a bandana over his face.
This was before the COVID pandemic, so that's not why he's wearing it. Maybe he wanted to stay anonymous (the dark glasses help with that, too). So is he an ashamed male?
But he's exposing his body, and his nice overall tan (no tan lines) tells me that he regularly goes au naturel. So I'm going to call him an unashamed mystery male.

last one: he's the only one without pubic hair
I dig the uncircked dude in the red baseball cap. The "N" is definitely not a Maga thing.
Beautiful men.
I ride in many naked bike rides, Body Pride Ride as part of our Pride parade, the Fremont Solstice parade, WNBR in different cities, the Portland Oregon night rides, etc.* The scarf may just be an attempt to remain anonymous. I think there's only two to pull off remaining totally anonymous, out of thousands of participants. The bandanas (like above) tend to come on and off many times during the rides.
1. There was a medical student here who participated in rides for many years covering his entire head, either with a full rubber mask or a motorcycle helmet with a dark visor. His medical specialty was in its infancy, with a small number of researchers. It was really hot inside the things. I don't know how he did it, actually. He knew it was kind of lame, but the Nixon mask was indeed comical, and a motorcycle rider trading gas for pedals, looked so out of place as to be a bit of social commentary. After many years of work, he didn't want to even risk jeopardizing any future opportunities.
2. A guy on the Portland night ride some years ago wore a Guy Fawkes mask. I had never seen one before, so asked him about it. He worked for the CIA with top secret clearance, and wanted to avoid any problems if someone got a picture of his face on the ride.
Otherwise, the rides are lots of fun. Riding in the warm summer air by the lake is a wonderful feeling.
*(we quip among ourselves over The Naked Bike Riding Season. If you are willing to drive a bit, you could do many rides, June through late August, from Vancouver BC, Bellingham, Seattle, Portland, SF, etc. In Seattle we have gone out several times for mini WNBRs over the summer in addition to that)
