Salute for Prince Harry
Not all demonstrations are negative. Sometimes they're positive expressions of support for something or someone. This post is for my friend Razz.
In 2012, Britain's Prince Harry had served in the military in Afghanistan. He was taking a break in Las Vegas before returning to Afghanistan for his second tour of duty after training to be an Apache helicopter pilot. At the hotel in Las Vegas, he met some girls and invited them up to his suite. One of the girls got some cell phone photos of the shenanigans that ensued, which apparently involved a game of strip billiards.
In the previous photo, widely distributed, he's covering what one source called the "crown jewels." In the photo above, which may or may not be a fake, the crown jewels have been pixellated, but you can see them.
And this photo was described as Harry hugging one of the girls. Yeah, hugging. Right.
The cell phone photos soon got onto the Internet. Shortly afterwards, Harry was observed spending a lot of time looking at his cellphone, presumably checking out the photos. He doesn't look too concerned. In fact, friends said he felt "bullish" about the photos. Well, judging by the second photo above, he has nothing to be ashamed of.
The Palace, however, was furious and threatened legal action if any British media published the photos. Not that it made any difference once the photos were on the Internet.
But in the British military, there was overwhelming support for Harry. Why shouldn't the 27-year-old prince have his fling before going back to Afghanistan? A "salute for Prince Harry" movement quickly sprang up, with military men getting naked to show their support.
Generally they covered their own crown jewels, but sometimes the coverage was imperfect, like the two guys on the right.
A Facebook group popped up for military guys to show their support with naked salutes. This fine specimen is Leon Shorrocks.
We end with these unashamed British paratroopers who felt no need to hide their crown jewels to show their support for the naked prince.
