Protests - Part 8

Indignados, Spain

In 2011 and 2012, there was a series of protests and demonstrations in Spain by a movement called the Indignados (the Indignant Ones).  They were protesting against Spanish austerity measures, high unemployment, and public corruption.  In addition, they protested against banks and economic inequality, like the Occupy Wall Street movement that was happening at about the same time.

A protestor in Valencia on June 19, 2011.  His sign says "The bank has even stolen my underwear."

Two protestors in Madrid on July 24, 2011.  There was a huge crowd of demonstrators, not naked except for a couple of guys, but of course, they're the ones who got our attention.

Protesters in Madrid on May 15, 2012, the anniversary of the first Indignado protest.  The police are standing by but do not seem to be interfering.

Another view of one of those protesters with police on May 15, 2012.

We end with a group of firefighters at the Mieres fire station in Asturia, northern Spain, on July 19, 2012.  Their sign says, "With so many funding cuts, we are left naked."
