Beach Bums - Part 55

Tambaba Open 2017

Praia Tambaba, or Tambaba Beach, is a beautiful beach in the northeastern Brazilian state of Paraiba.  There is a clothed beach and a nude beach, but unlike American and European nude beaches, which are clothing optional, clothing is forbidden on this nude beach.  You have to be naked.

This beach is the site of the Tambaba Open, one of the world's biggest nude surfing competitions, sponsored by SONATA, the Sociedade Naturista de Tambaba (Tambaba Naturist Society) and the Brazilian Federation of Naturism.

Today's photos are from the 2017 Tambaba Open.

A contestant looking over the surf.

Before the event starts, contestants are allowed to do some practice surfing to get a feel for the site.

All the practice surfing is done totally naked.

This is not a surprise, since the beach prohibits wearing clothing.

However, it turns out that for the main event, the surfers actually wear colored T-shirts, an exception to the no-clothing rule.

So when we see the surfers totally naked, like these ones ...

it means they're practicing.

At some point the contestants headed into a forest trail, perhaps to get out of the sun.

And there they rested in the shade.

Then the actual competition began, in which contestants wear a T-shirt (and nothing else).  There are T-shirts of different colors that help the judges identify who's who if more than one guy is surfing at the same time.

We end with a guy doing a headstand, presenting a nice side view.  Bravo!

Have any of these nude surfing events been filmed? Thanks for the photos. Nice!

Mandatory? Oh, wouldn't that be delightful!

That really takes talent to do a headstand while on a moving surfboard! I am not familiar with much surfing, so I haven't seen anything like this before.

This would be fun to see in person.

Perhaps they can get armbands instead.
