Beach Bums - Part 38

Playa Chihuahua, Uruguay

Uruguay is a country that most Americans are not familiar with.  It's located between Argentina and Brazil.  There are two official nude beaches in Uruguay, and today we look at one of them, Playa Chihuahua.

It's located about 60 miles east of Montevideo, the capital.  In the background is the city of Maldonado.  But you might not have been looking at the background.

The beach has been an unofficial nude beach since the 1960s.

In 2001, the first hotel catering to naturists opened near the beach, and nudist tourism developed rapidly.  By 2022 there were nine hotels catering to nudists.

In 2012 the Maldonado Municipality recognized what was happening and officially authorized nudism on the beach to make it legal.

And here he's apparently declaring V for victory.  I guess he likes this spot.

Having found a spot he likes, he proceeds to do naked yoga – a headstand.  Well, to each his own.

Others are happy to sunbathe and swim.
