 Clothing Ads

We've already seen how some fashion designers use naked men in their ads.  Here's a classic example by Valentino.  The woman's clothing is the product.  The man is just to get your attention.

Here, the underwear, which is hardly visible, is the product, but the point of the ad is not to show off the product.  It's to grab your attention so you remember the name Gucci.

I thought this ad couldn't be showing the product.  I mean, does Givenchy make blue jeans?  It turns out he does.  A pair of Givenchy jeans costs only $1055.

Jordy is a costume designer for dance competitions who also makes menswear.

This ad for Little Boy Blue swimwear again doesn't show off the product.  Instead, it shows off the model, Stefan Pinto.  Advertisers know the power of suggestion: buy Little Boy Blue swimwear and you'll look like this guy.

How to make socks sexy?  Show a bunch of naked young guys wearing them.

Shoes can be sexy, too.  Buy Adidas shoes and look like this guy.  And to further appeal to you, the ad says, "Runners, yeah, we're different."  Because everyone likes to think they're different.

Not to be outdone, this Reebok guy is REALLY different.  Well, it got your attention, didn't it?

The first one I saw was an ad for athletic equipment showing a naked soccer team. Controversial, since the models were clearly minors, and I still don't know how they got away with it. Not sexy at all, but the nudity was enough to be controversial.
