Weighing In - Part 19

Oscar De La Hoya

Oscar De La Hoya (born 1973) is an American professional boxer who competed from 1992 to 2008.  He won a gold medal at the 1992 Olympic Games.  Later he won world titles in six weight classes: Super Featherweight, Lightweight, Light Welterweight, Welterweight, Light Middleweight, and Middleweight, advancing to heavier weight classes as his career progressed by putting on more muscle, not fat.

The photo above is him weighing in for a fight at Caesar's Palace, Las Vegas in 1995 or 1996.

Here he is weighing in for a welterweight fight against Felix Trinidad in Las Vegas in 1999 with boxing promoter Don King looking over his shoulder.  The modesty towel is luckily being held just a little too low.

In 2007, photos came out of him wearing women's lingerie, fishnet, and high heels, including the photo above.  Russian stripper Milana Dravnei, who appears in some of the photos, tried to blackmail De La Hoya by threatening to release the photos.  He refused to pay and said the photos were faked in Photoshop.  Years later, he admitted the photos were real, and he had been under the influence of alcohol and cocaine at the time.

But if you ever meet De La Hoya, it may not be smart to tease him about the photos.  You don't want to anger someone who, in 1997, was ranked as, pound for pound, the best fighter in the world.

Fishnet bodysuit and heels, the dude would still kick some serious ass.

I'm glad he let it all "hang out". But he took too long to admit it.

One of these days you’re gonna drop that towel anyway
