World Naked Gardening Day

 World Naked Gardening Day

May 1, or May Day, is a spring festival in many countries.  In Communist countries, it was celebrated as International Workers' Day.  But this year, we have another celebration.  World Naked Gardening Day is the first Saturday in May, which happens to fall on May 1 this year.

The idea started in the U.S in 2005, but it quickly spread around the world.  This is Ross Geach in Plaidstow, England.

Franco Coluzzi in Denmark.

Russell Smith and friend in Darwin, Australia

A guy watering in Poland.

A guy who calls himself Spicy Beard planting hot peppers in Italy.

Domonick Gravine in Tennessee with nepenthes (pitcher plants).  Don't stick your you-know-what into those flowers, Domonick – they're carnivorous!

Kenneth Ingebretsen in Norway.

Dans le jardin in France.  Gardening is one activity that was not curtailed by the pandemic, because you can still garden while isolating at home.  This and the next two photos were taken during the pandemic in 2020.

Watering cactus plants in Malaga, Spain.

Mowing the lawn in Yorkshire, England.

We end with a naked calendar photo from Grubby Gardeners, England.  OMG, guys, you have such big ... begonias!
